Begin the tourLocated in the historic heart of Nîmes, the Hôtel de Bernis is one of the few mansions in the city to have remained intact, always inhabited by the same family.
Unlike many transformed or divided residences, it has retained its unity, its architecture, and a continuous family history.
Today, the house opens its doors to share this unique place.
An architecture Inspired
by Nîmes antiquity
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Bernis family undertook major works to restructure the mediaeval residence. These transformations lead to the creation of a square courtyard of classic architecture, inspired by the Roman monuments of Nîmes.
The facades have a base level surmounted by a noble floor, framed by an imposing entablement.
The ground floor arcades take up the patterns and proportions found in the arenas. The whole reflects a desire to harmonise function and aesthetics, in a rare architectural spirit.

Visit the Hotel de Bernis
The Hotel de Bernis opens its doors to visitors every Saturday at 2 p.m.
The price is 5 euros per person.
These visits are an opportunity to discover the history of the house, its architecture inspired by antiquity, and the life that still inhabits it today.

This winter
Gather around the fire!
Upstairs at the Hôtel de Bernis, the 18th-century salon (freshly refreshed and rearranged) opens its doors for a series of cozy evenings.
Music, readings, and poetry will enliven these gatherings, followed by a convivial buffet in the lively spirit of the salons of old.
In tribute to Maurice Ravel, a frequent guest of the Godebski salon, words and melodies will mingle this winter in the glow of the fire and the magic of the place.
